Using the category is like a menu of your appetizer, lunch, and al cart. Depending on what you're doing you can practice ahead of time to know what knot to use. Picking the Decorative category a variety of knots I "knot" thought of. Check out the Single Rope Braid. When you select a knot the app begins an interactive diagram tieing the know on your phone. You can slow the app down, turn it over, different directions to help you understand how the knot is tied.
Adding the knots you use often to your favorites makes them easy to find for that one knot you know but don't know. I keep a list of different climbing knots I use in rigging ropes to knots that are taught to others. This is a great way to learn the names of the knots and nerd out when someone shows you a knot to say the name. Speaking of nerding out on knots, the app does an amazing jog to explain the usage, warning, and history of the knot.
